My partner is Egyptian and I come from a different Muslim culture than him so I have a few questions about the marriage process. Say he and I have told our families about each other, he’s spoken to my father, the two fathers are in communication, and now we want the two families to meet. What exactly is the normal procedure of events from there? My understanding right now is that for you guys the Fati7a is sort of like a formal dinner where the two families sit down and declare intentions to get to know each other, then the Khutuba is official engagement/agreement with a ring (but for some people its one and the same as the Fati7a), then the katb kitab/7afla are bundled together later on. Is this correct?
